George Johnson, 85, of Baker, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born to the union of James and Izzie Johnson on May 27, 1940. George was born and raised in Clinton, Louisiana educated int the Clinton Public School System. He later moved to Long Beach, California and retired from Cement Mason where he worked for 40+ years as a construction worker.

He leaves to cherish and celebrate his memories: his wife, Viola Johnson, two daughters, Diana Johnson of Baker, Louisiana, and Jasmine of Los Angeles, California. Two sons, Jerry Banks of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Micheal Hughes (Patricia) of Denham Springs, Louisiana. One granddaughter, Dana Johnson, three great grandchildren, Amaria Donaldson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Nahsir McDaniel of Baker, Louisiana, Cynsir Mc Daniel of Baker, Louisiana and a host of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Lizzie Johnson; six sisters, Lubertha, Louise, Mary, Mattie, Yvonne, and Carey; four brothers, James Sr., Garnett, Manual, and Moses Sr.
