Obituary of Ida L Perkins

Sister Ida Lee Brooks Perkins was born July 24, 1932 in Ethel, Louisiana to the late Flander and Elnora Brooks, who lived on Battle Road by the Monday Pond. To this union four
children were born. She was the fourth of four children.She accepted Christ under the leadership of Reverend Andrew Heatly at Beechgrove #1 Baptist Church.
Some folks called her "Mae," "Mary," or "Ms. Perkins,, but all with love. Some folks knew her by the biscuits that were homemade each morning around 5:30 am. Church folks knew her by fancy hats and hot combed mangled gray hair that hung down her back.
As she grew into a young lady a man by the name of Gayden Perkins, Sr. met her at a supper.
They were married on the fourth Sunday, July 26, 1953 at her parents house. She believed in Ephesians 5:23 "For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church; and he is the Savior of the body.To this union thirteen (13) children were born.
Remembering her life is her husband of 62 years Gayden Perkins, Sr.; Twelve Children; Willie J. Perkins
(Joyce),Donald R. Perkins (Tina). Sidney Perkins, John L. Perkins, Sr. (Helen), Leroy A. Perkins, Sylvester Perkins, Sr., Jacqueline A. Perkins, Ida D. Hill, Brunetta Parker (Porter), Richard D. Perkins (Wanda), George L. Perkins, and MacArthur Perkins; 23 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren ; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends .
Sister Perkins is preceded in death by her parents Flander and Elnora Brooks; stepmother Emma Brooks; father and-in-law Leander and Bessie McKneely; son Gayden Perkins Jr.; two sisters Annie B. Hausey, and Annette Lusk, and her twin brother Jessie Brooks.
