Thadus Ray Bates, 70, a resident of Ethel, LA went to his eternal home on Saturday, April 30, 2016. Visitation will be at Richardson Funeral Home in Clinton, LA on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. On Saturday, May 7, 2016, visitation is from 10:00 A.M. until funeral services at 12:00 P.M. at Providence No. 2 Baptist Church, Ethel, LA. Interment: Bates Cemetery. He leaves to cherish his memories; a daughter, Colette Bates Kennedy (Reginald); former wife; Geneva Harry;three sisters, Gwendolyn Bates Ramsey (Edgar), Darlene Bates Anthony (Marvin), and Jacqueline Bates Kilbourne (Don); one brother, Gregory Bates (Rehanna); four nieces, Angelyn Ramsey, M.D, Alaina Ramsey (Brent Kahn), Christa Kilbourne, and Ameera Bates; and three nephews, Brandon Kilbourne, Aaron Bates (Keandra),and Anson Bates. He was preceded in death by his parents; Isadore Bates and Ruby Hamm Bates. Thadus was a graduate of East High School, in Clinton, Louisiana. He continued his education at both Southern University and Louisiana State University and gave his talent that exceeded his imagination in the field of Fine Arts. Thadus is a former employee of Crown Zellerbach and East Louisiana State Hospital.
