Obituary of Larene Brown Chase

Sister Larene Brown Chase completed her earthly journey on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 7:40p.m. at her home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana surrounded by her loving family. Her journey began in East Feliciana Parish on the outskirts of Clinton. She was born to the union of Melvin Brown and Gladys Wright Brown on January 9, 1951. She began her faith walk at an early age at the Beech Grove Baptist Church located in Clinton under the leadership of Rev. W. H. Tobias. She was a 1969 graduate of East High School in Clinton. She attended Southern University where she majored in "Food and Nutrition." She later met and married her husband Thomas on May 13, 1972. To this union two children were born. In 1988, Larene adhered to the covenant and faithfully united with the Donaldson Chapel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Charles T. Smith. Larene was a strong, kind, mild mannered woman of God, who devoted her life to the Lord, her family and her church. Sis Larene was an active member of the senior usher ministry for many years. She was a faithful church member till her death. She even learned to utilize social media to watch and interact in the live streaming services of her church. Larene was a hard worker. She worked 20 years at Parkland Hospital and another 19 years at Woman's Hospital before retiring in January of 2018. Sis. Larene was an avid sport fan. She loved all sports including golf. She would share sports "junk" talk with her son and daughter after every game either in person or over the phone. Memories of Larene will be cherished by her husband of 48 years, Thomas Chase; one daughter, Yolanda Chase of Baton Rouge; one son, Jonathan (Martha) Chase; two granddaughters, Madison and Myra all of New Bern, North Carolina; one sister, Annie (Clarence) Chapman of Denham Springs, Louisiana; one brother, Maurice Brown of Port Allen, Louisiana; five aunts, Helen Brown Alexander, Mae Ola Wright, Josie Brown Hamilton, Edith Brown Kilbourne, Gloria Spears Wright; one uncle, Adolphus Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Larene was preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, one sister, Brenda Brock; one brother, Leroy Brown and several aunts and uncles.
