Ecclesiastes 3:1 - To every thing there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven: Sunrise January 6, 1944, to the late Dave and Izelia Cannon-Kennerson. Baptized at an early age at Galileo Baptist Church, Clinton LA. Graduating class of 1962 East High School, Clinton, LA. Upon graduation he relocated to Chicago and was employed at Dryco Manufacturing Co. Roosevelt later attended Washburn Trade School where he received his Apprenticeship and Journeyman Plumbers License. Roosevelt returns to Clinton where he married his high school sweetheart Mary Lee Ramsey of Clinton and brought his wife back to Chicago. To this union two children was born, Roosevelt Kennerson Jr. and Craig J. Kennerson Sr. Roosevelt served as a faithful member of the senior usher board of Shiloh MBC under Rev. Gordon H. Humphrey. He later became a member of St. Margaret of Scotland under Father Daniel Mallette. After moving from Chicago, IL to Flossmoor, IL. he united with Mayo AME church under Joseph H. James of Matteson, IL. Roosevelt was never without a church home. His final church was Prague Catholic Church of Flossmoor, IL. Roosevelt returned to Louisiana in 2016 after his illness where he resided at Grace Rehab of Slaughter, LA. He was a devoted member of the City of Chicago Local 130 U.A. for 55 years. His employment was with Chicago Housing Authority and Cook County of Illinois where he finally retired. Affectionately known as Mr. K had a heart for helping people in need, never forgetting where he came from. On March 4, 2024, Roosevelt went to Glory leaving his beautiful wife Mary Kennerson of Zachary, LA. two sons Roosevelt (Carol) Kennerson Jr of Matteson, IL, Craig (Cathy) Kennerson Sr. of Tinley Park, IL. five grandchildren Jessica, Danielle, Kevin, David (Jennifer) Craig Kennerson Jr (Camille) of Chicago, IL., he also leaves behind great grandchildren, four sisters Evelyn Matthews of Zachary, LA., Dorothy Pernell of Baton Rouge, LA, Augustine Kimble of Austin, TX, Imogene Isaac of New Orleans, LA., Mother-in-law Gladys Soileau, Clinton LA., in-laws Ida C, Maggie W, Clinton, LA., Whalen (Monica) of Lafayette, LA., Lawrence of Lake Charles, LA., Roosevelt (Helen), Jack (Sandra), Donald Ray (Betty), Roger Dale, Morene (Pastor Selders), Adolphus (Sylivia), Rickie (Carolyn), Carolyn (Pastor Sanders), all of Clinton, LA., Authra of Baton Rouge, LA., a host of nieces and nephews, several special friends Johnny (Hattie) Shermile of Chicago, IL./Clinton, LA., Herman (Carol) Toney of Chicago, IL./Kentwood, LA., Jessie and Maxine Taylor of Chicago, IL. Roosevelt was preceded in death by his parents Dave and Izelia, five sisters and five brothers. Roosevelt was the rock of the family and for many extended families and friends. He will truly be missed.
