Jesse Lee Matthews Obituary

April 5, 1952 - June 14, 2024

Brother Jesse Lee Matthews was born on April 5, 1952 to Willie Gant and Eva

Matthews. He was baptized at an early age and was a proud graduate of

Chaneyville High School, class of 1970. In 1972, Jesse was united in holy

matrimony with the late Lois Matthews. Their union was blessed with one

son. Jesse, affectionately known as "Hank," enjoyed a fulfilling career as a

truck driver for Georgia Pacific until his retirement.

Brother Matthews memory and legacy will be cherished by his son,

Jaworski Matthews, Sr., daughter in law, Lakeitha Anthony, and four

grandchildren; Jaworski Matthews, Jr., Javaughn Matthews, Jurnee

Matthews, and Jenesis Matthews. Five sisters; Sara Matthews (Michael),

Loretta Bradford (Michael), Reatha Wright, Betty Wright Collins (Donald),

and Lorrine Brown Hayes. Five brothers; Robert Perkins, Frank Matthews

(Linda), Kina Wright, Sr. (Dyvar), Ernest Wright (Iness), and Morris Wright

(Margret). One sister in law, Paula Richardson, and four brother in laws, Jesse

Richardson, Jr., Bernard Richardson, Sr. (Lorene), Alvin Richardson (Linda),

and Dennis Richardson, Sr. (Chermane). His legacy of love will continue

through his three godchildren: Dionne Washington, Jalesia Hamilton, and

Trinnedy Holliday. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces,

nephews, and friends, whom he inspired, motivated, and celebrated at every

opportunity.

Brother Jesse Matthews will be welcomed in Heaven by his parents Willie

Gant and Eva Matthews, his wife, Lois Matthews., and three siblings; Johnny

Perkins, Willie Mae Perkins-Hitchens, and Richard Matthews
