Please share a memory of Charlie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charlie Taylor, Jr. began his race of life March 13, 1941. He crossed the finish line February 13, 2021 at 2:44 pm. At the finish line was our Savior Jesus Christ to welcome me home. By his side was his devoted and loving wife, Catherine. Charlie was a native of Fort Pierce, Florida and a resident of Clinton, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his mother, Iretha Minus Taylor, and his father, Charlie Taylor, Sr. Two sisters; Creola Young (Aaron) Mary B. Bacon (Pete); one brother, James "Mike" Taylor, all of Fort Pierce, Florida. He is survived a sister Irma Reynolds (Robert) of Fairport, New York. Charlie Leaves to celebrate his homegoing; his devoted wife, Catherine Butler Taylor (Clinton), two sons, Rodriguez Fred Taylor of Baton Rouge, LA and Jason D'Orsay Taylor(Tamara) of Arlington, Texas. One grandson, Julius Eli Taylor and a granddaughter Gloria Lillian Taylor. There is a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cheer me on at the finish line. Because of his football ability to run the "rock", Charlie earned the name "Hoss" and was recruited to play for Johnson C. Smith, Grambling State and the Gold and Blue of Southern University in 1960. Charlie chose Southern University Baton Rouge, where he would not only run the "rock," but also earn his B.S. and Master's Degree in Education. He would obtain his +30 graduate hours from LSU and the University of Southern Mississippi. In 1967 he became a member of the faculty of St. Helena High School. There he served as a Social Science teacher and assistant football coach. He would become the Principal of St. Helena Middle School (Grades 5-8). He would serve as Principal of St. Helena High School from 1992 to 2003. A private memorial service will be Saturday, Feb 20, 2021 at Richardson Funeral Home of Clinton. Reading Each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work of what sort it is. 1 Corinthians, 3:13.
